U.S.-Pakistan Discuss Deepening Mineral Investment and Bilateral Ties

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has urged American investors to seize opportunities in Pakistan's mineral sector, highlighting the country's untapped potential and commitment to fostering foreign investment.

The Prime Minister made these remarks during a meeting with a U.S. delegation led by Acting Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, Erik Meyer. PM Sharif expressed Pakistan’s desire to work closely with President Donald Trump and his administration to strengthen bilateral relations.

Emphasizing the importance of expanding cooperation in trade, investment, and counter-terrorism, the Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to deepening ties with the United States.

Erik Meyer congratulated Pakistan on the successful organization of the Pakistan Mineral Investment Forum, recognizing the immense potential of the country’s mineral resources. He conveyed American companies' interest in investing in the sector and reiterated the U.S. government's willingness to work with Pakistan on mutually beneficial areas of cooperation.

In a separate high-level meeting at the General Headquarters (GHQ), Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir received the U.S. delegation. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the discussion was held in the context of the Mineral Investment Forum and focused on fostering strategic partnerships to unlock Pakistan’s vast, underutilized mineral wealth.

The U.S. delegation expressed confidence in Pakistan’s evolving investment climate and emphasized the significance of collaborating on mineral development as a core area of shared interest. The meeting also provided a platform to exchange views on global developments and Pakistan’s regional security dynamics.

Both sides reaffirmed their confidence in the positive trajectory of U.S.-Pakistan relations and agreed to explore new business avenues while enhancing existing cooperation.

According to ISPR, discussions also touched on global and regional security issues, with both parties agreeing to further bolster ties in a constructive and forward-looking manner.
